Polished Concrete
Increasing demand for industrial and decorative finishes to concrete floors
has brought with it a growing range of options for you the consumer.
Polished concrete floors are durable, low maintenance, seamless, hygienic
and very cost effective. However, there are fundamental differences in the
treatment,
appearance, life span, durability and initial cost of a polished concrete floor.
Honestone is able to offer various levels of concrete floor refinement:
The Standard Service
The Standard Service polished concrete involves diamond grinding
the floor smooth, flat and removing any surface contaminants. Aggregate
exposure is minimal and
any holes, cracks and imperfections will be noticeable. Minimum
of 2 coats with first quality top coat acrylic sealer.
The Deluxe Service
The Deluxe Service polished concrete uses coarser diamond grinding
to expose more aggregate (complete exposure is not guaranteed
due to some concrete
placement methods). The surface is then sealed using a clear acrylic epoxy or polyurethane coating
giving a dense, chemical
resistant appearance. This grinding method is also used externally,
however instead of a topcoat sealer, a penetrating sealer is used
so not to compromise
slip resistance.
The Premium Service
The Premium Service Superfloor / Hiperfloor is available in non
exposed or full aggregate exposure. This unique concept involves
grinding
the surface to expose the underlying
stronger concrete then treating with a surface hardener. Once cured,
usually overnight, the surface is then highly polished to a matt
- semi gloss - full
gloss. Regarded as the ultimate in concrete floor refinement, a
True Polished Concrete is the most hard wearing, low maintenance floor, as
it is protected with a
penetrating sealer, not a softer top coat that will scratch and wear
over time. Guaranteed not to blister, peel or wear off.
Various finishes are available with this process.
Platinum - 10 step process to expose maximum aggregate
with full gloss finish
Gold - 6 step process to give fine aggregate exposure with a satin
finish
Bronze - 3 step process to give no aggregate
exposure with a satin finish
